He was born there at the end of the Potato famine in 1848, and came Bristol married a local girl named Sarah born in 1854.
The Ancestry of Lilly Reed

The first information we have on the Reed family lies with Giles Reed who was born in Yate around 1790, he maried a woman who arrived in Yate from Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire named Ann. In about 1820 Ann gave birth to a daughter named Jane. Jane became a on site worker on the local farms around Yate. In the early 1840s she worked between Wickwar, and Rangeworthy at Hall End farm. At a messy period in the Reed family history Jane was working as a dairy maid at Raysfield Farm, next to where Raysfield school now stands. The mess in the Reed family was caused by Jane's love for the Ballif living on the farm, named Thomas Pendock, who had family in Badmington. Infact the owner Raysfield Farm was his uncle. Jane's love manifested itself in the conception a son William Penduck. Unfortunately for Jane and the infant William, Thomas wasn't interested in marrying her. He moved on and was in Henbury ten years on. Williams sufferred the indignity on being born in the Union work House on the Ridge, Yate in 1851. William was taken in by her mother. Jane continued to work as a Dairy maid, and in 1861 was working on Thomas Amos's Crowthers dairy farm, on Goose Green. In her forties Jane married the widower contract haulier John Slade, from Little Sodbury. Jane became nurse maid to John's young children. Jane died in 1906.
William became a Railworker, and married Sarah Ann Dixon. They lived at Goose Green in the 1880s and moved towards Stover Road later. Lilly Married Henry Williams, and Collier from Mays Hill. They settled in Sunnyside Lane in Yate.

Frances Beatrice 1894

Frances remained in Yate and worked as a domestic servent. She met Stephen Charles Williamson a man from Little Walsingham in Norfolk with a young son named Charles. His wife had left him for a new life with an American serviceman. After this Stephen left Little Walsingham, and possible the only hope of getting a divorce. Neither any longer knew the where abouts of the other, so divorce may have been impossible, so now neither could remarry. Frances became pregnat with her first child, but unfortunately she had misunderstood the nature of her position. She was shocked and dismayed to find out that Stephen would not marry her, because her was already in an inescapable marriage. So Frances had her first child at home, but what would neighbours say if they ever new. She was living with a married man technically. Frances became very resentful about this. Although it seemed that she didn't much care for him, she did and had three children together, but her anger often overshadowed their love. Frances' first child was Mabel Frances born at her parent's home in Sunnyside Lane on 29th September 1918, and Lilly was present at the birth. Next Frances gave birth to Phyllis Grace. Then she had a son, she named after her father, Henry. Henry died in his youth. Frances treated Stephen badly, but the girls loved the man they knew as father.
